Ranked by how often this pattern has held at Westline DC. Confirm it or kill it before the first pick wave.

Rank 1Very likely · 5/5

Case-pack of 12 received as 12 eaches and as 1 case — double-posted

The 09:40 post and the 09:52 correction both landed. One carton counted twice reads as a clean +12 on a bin that is physically right.

Confirm it
  • · Pull PO-8802 and look for two posts against the same carton
  • · Recount A-22-01 by case, then by inner, and write both numbers
Kill it
  • · Only one receipt line exists against PO-8802
Rank 2Possible · 3/5FX-033

Inners counted as cases at the bin

Twelve inners to a case. Counting inners into the case field lands the same +12.

Confirm it
  • · Ask the counter which field they filled
  • · Check the shelf-edge label for the conversion
Kill it
  • · The count sheet shows cases only
Rank 3Long shot · 2/5FX-033

No second-counter verify before the number was entered

A second set of eyes catches a UOM slip in under a minute. Nobody signed the recount line.

Confirm it
  • · Check the recount signature on the sheet
Kill it
  • · A second counter already verified and signed
Architect check
  • · Goal restated: explain the +12 without letting anyone post a gain that hides a real short.
  • · Missing info: no photo of the carton label in this demo seed.
  • · Assumptions: item master carries cases; the carton holds 12 inners.
  • · Weakest point: a double post and a UOM slip look identical from here. The recount step catches both.

Tonight's procedure

A-22 fastener receipt and bin-count lock
Every fastener receipt · every A-22 bin count
  1. 1Receiver

Post a fastener carton once, in the UOM the item master reads.

Fail if: A correction is needed: reverse the first post, do not add a second line.

  2. 2Receiver

Read the carton label conversion out loud before posting — 12 inners to a case.

Fail if: Label and item master disagree: call the supervisor before close.

  3. 3Counter

Count A-22 by case. Write the inner count in the margin, never in the quantity field.

Fail if: The quantity field holds an inner count: void the sheet and recount.

  4. 4Counter

Any bin that comes out high gets a second set of eyes before it is entered.

Fail if: No recount signature on the line.

  5. 5Supervisor

Label the A-22 shelf edge with the case-to-inner conversion.

Fail if: Shelf edge is still blank at the next huddle.

  6. 6Day lead

Do not post a +12 on this family. Open Autopsy first.

Fail if: An adjustment posts before the autopsy is closed.

Train tonight
Maria Delgado covers the case-to-inner conversion with the day counters at the 07:15 huddle.

Coaching card

Nothing was lost here — the bin is right and the paperwork is not. Count A-22 by case and put the inners in the margin, and this one stops happening.
